According to psychology, consciousness is the sum of all conscious perception processes, which is equated with the individual mind. Mainstream science refers to consciousness as the functional mode of brain matter. A brain has approximately 100 billion neurons, which together weigh about 3.5 pounds. All neurons placed end to end would form a nerve path half a million kilometers long. Each nerve cell excites or inhibits 10,000 others. The number of information-transmitting neurotransmitter molecules released in this process is uncountable. Neurons operate with code, language, grammar. Everything is imprinted in electronic patterns. Consciousness is not there – we know consciousness is subtle – it is intelligence. The cerebral cortex is, according to science, the seat of intelligence and creativity. But without consciousness, neither exists.
